The Xi Xi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., celebrated their 40th Achievement Week 15-21 November 2017. This year’s Achievement Week Observance theme "When the World Calls, Omega Men Answer" which was very appropriate as we bear witness to our communities in crisis around the world and accepting that a solution will not be is covered by one, but many. The chapter started the week with planned service events, the Achievement Week Banquet, Reclamation and Retention, and church service at Heritage International Christian Church in Radcliff, KY.
November 15 2017, Xi Xi provided support to Feeding America, a social action event that serves those in need by acquiring and distributing donated food, grocery items and government commodities throughout Kentucky. In support of this initiative, Xi Xi organized the brothers and family members to help package food to be distributed throughout Kentucky.
November 16, 2017 the brothers and family members came together for a night of bowling to include Reclamation and Retention with non-active Brothers in local area and visiting Brothers. Participants enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship, food, fun and laughter living one of our fraternity’s motto “Friendship is Essential to the Soul."
November 17, 2017 our Basileus, Brother Christopher Carter led the brothers in a re-dedication ceremony followed by our 40th annual achievement week banquet. Bro (COL) Elmore “Jay” Jones delivered a powerful message which connect the theme for the Fraternity to acknowledge their unselfish willingness to sacrifice for the betterment of the community and keeping with the traditions of our great fraternity. We celebrated the achievements of our chapter members and other leaders within the community.
Xi Xi concluded the week with church service at Heritage International Christian Church, where Aubrey Jackson presides as Pastor. The chapter provided a monetary offering to assist with the church’s goals and vision for the community.
Xi Xi closed our achievement week celebration on November 30, 2017 with a clothing drive. The brothers collected shirts, pants, coats and various clothing articles that were donated at the goodwill. The outstanding work of this chapter stands as preface of
work to come.
